Free team calendar maker
Make your team's calendar in a minute. Drag on the week to add a shift, type who is on it, and send the link. No sign up, nothing to install.
How it works
- Drag on the calendar to add a shift. Drag it again to move it, or pull its bottom edge to change when it ends.
- Type a name on it. That person is on your team now, with their initials on every shift, and their name comes up as you type next time.
- Make it repeat every day, every weekday, on the days of the week you pick, every month, or on a cycle like 4 on 4 off. With several people, pick Take turns. Next week is already filled when you get there.
- Click Share and send the link by email or in your team chat. People see every change you make. Or print it, a week or a month per page.
A week, a day, a month, or one row per person
Switch views from the menu at the top right, or press D, W or M. The Timeline layout puts one person per row, so you see who is on when at a glance. J and K move a week back and forward, T brings you back to today, C adds a shift.
What it is good for
A front desk or support rota, who is on call each week, volunteer shifts for a three day festival, a sports team's season, a school trip or a club's weekend duties. Chores at home too, if you are brave.
Start from a shift pattern
Shift work follows a few well known patterns. Open one with its crews already on the calendar, then put your people on them:
- 2-2-3 schedule
- Pitman schedule
- DuPont schedule
- 4 on 4 off schedule
- Kelly schedule
- 9/80 schedule
- 3 shift system
- 2 shift system
- 4 crew 8 hour schedule
Questions
- Is it free?
- Yes. There is no account to make and no ads. Make as many calendars as you want.
- Where is my calendar saved?
- In your browser as you go, and on our servers once there is something on it, so the link works for everyone you send it to.
- Does it show public holidays?
- Yes, your country's national holidays, from your time zone. Add up to five countries from the list on the left, or hide them.
- Can I open it in Excel or Google Sheets?
- Yes. Share exports the shifts as a CSV file that Excel opens, and gives a link Google Sheets reads with =IMPORTDATA, so the sheet follows your changes. It also saves the week as a picture to send in a chat.
- Who can see it?
- Only people who have the link. Links are long and random, and shared calendars stay out of search engines. The link to edit is a different link from the one to view.
- Can my team change it?
- Yes. Click Share, pick Can edit, and send that link. Everyone else keeps the view link.
- Can people get a reminder before their shift?
- That is what TurnShift does, in Slack: a message to each person before their shift, and to the channel when it starts. It is the same calendar, with a 14-day free trial.
Reminders in Slack
TurnShift is this calendar for teams on Slack: each person gets a message before their shift, and books their own shifts from there.
